H.pylori Cover

While our stomach are naturally filled with good and bad bacteria, Helicobacter Pylori (H.Pylori) is one bacteria that you do not want too much of in your gut. While it is common to have a H.Pylori colonies in your digestive tract, having too much of this bacteria can be rather dangerous as they are responsible for Gi issues such as ulcers and gastritis.

H.Pylori infections is thought to be so common place that they’re present in more than half the world population. In general, most people don’t even realise that they have a H.pylori infection because its symptoms are often thought to just be poor digestion.

The bacteria are able to cause these issues by penetrating our stomach’s mucous lining and generating substances that neutralize stomach acids, making our stomach cells more vulnerable to the harsh digestive acids. Together, stomach acid and H.Pylori will irritate the stomach lining and cause ulcers and gastritis.

But beyond just ulcers and gastritis, the bacteria can also lead to more serious Gi complications such as internal bleeding, obstruction of the Gi tract, infection and perforation of a peptic ulcer. Studies have also shown that infected people also have an increased risk of stomach cancer.

Common symptoms of a H.Pylori infection

  • Ache or burning pain in your abdomen
  • Abdominal pain that’s worse when your stomach is empty
  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Excessive burping
  • Acid Reflux or Heartburn
  • Bloody Stools
  • Trouble Swallowing

While these symptoms are fairly common place and can be caused by numerous other disorders or issues, if you experience one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, it is recommended to visit your local physician for a consultation.

How Do I Prevent a H.Pylori Infection?

The best way to prevent getting H.Pylori multiplying in your Gi tract is by avoiding contaminated food and water. Unfortunately, because the bacteria is so prevalent in majority of the population, it is likely that you are already playing a host to it, especially in developing countries such as Malaysia. But, it never hurts to clean your food and water sources clean and free from bacteria anyway.

How do you treat a H.Pylori Infection?

After being diagnosed with a H.Pylori infection, your physician will likely prescribe you one or two antibiotics to help ensure that the bacteria will not develop a resistance to one particular antibiotic. While antibiotics are very efficient at eliminating harmful bacteria, the unfortunate side effect of taking oral antibiotics is that it can kill the friendly and beneficial bacteria in the your Gi tract as well.

Alternatively, another method of inhibiting H.Pylori growth in the Gi tract is through supplementation of Chios Mastiha. Chios Mastiha is the white, translucent and natural resin that that is produced by the Chios trees in Greece.

Long used as a traditional treatment for digestive disorders, recent studies have shown that the supplement contains natural antimicrobial agents that can inhibit bacterial growth in the Gi tract. Clinical studies have initially shown that Chios Mastic is effective against gastric and duodenal ulcer diseases and is also effective in eliminating H.Pylori concentrations. >>Read More About The Benefits of Chios Mastiha
